Reviewing Jennifer Prince, Catering Sales & Restaurant Manager of Arcadian Court

From crystal chandeliers to marble floors, Arcadian Court offers historical elegance and a locale worthy of wedding dreams

If you're looking for a venue with class and elegance, the beautifully restored Arcadian Court should be on your must-see list. The vaulted forty-eight foot ceilings, marble floors, grand columns and gorgeous crystal chandeliers make this a truly stunning setting.

The galleria overlooking the two-storey ballroom is a fabulous venue for pre-reception cocktails, and the ballroom itself can seat five hundred with a dance floor, six hundred without.

Located on the eighth floor of the Simpson Building (Hudson's Bay Company flagship store) at the corner of Bay and Queen, the Arcadian Court has been the place for special gatherings for seventy-five years.

Historically speaking...

The Arcadian Court opened in 1929. Historically, it has seen many different groups of people - some very famous. With several rounds of renovations over the years, The Arcadian Court has been almost entirely restored to its former majestic elegance.

Full-service event planning

Jennifer Prince is the Catering Sales and Restaurant Manager here. Together with four in-house consultants and a full staff for set-up and catering, Arcadian Court takes on approximately sixty weddings per year.

The Arcadian Court offers full-service wedding planning, down to the gift registry. They'll supply chair covers, linens, centerpieces, along with a list of highly recommended photographers, florists, disc jockeys, etc., Plus you'll find all kinds of décor ideas in their inspiring showroom.

The Arcadian Court can handle just about any style you want. They've held East Indian, kosher Jewish, Greek, Italian and Spanish receptions. The catering team – which is headed up by a European-trained Executive Chef – offers contemporary cuisine, or you can bring in ethnic or kosher catering if you hold your event on a Sunday.

Arcadian Court brides

Brides who choose the Arcadian Court, most certainly do so for the ambience and historical significance of this location. "The mere grandeur of Arcadian Court speaks for itself," Jennifer admitted. Add on that Arcadian Court has an excellent reputation for giving personal service to their brides, and you can see why the location is so popular, "This service begins in our first meeting and continues up to the day of the event."

Jennifer says that they cater to quite a few elegant and traditional weddings (ivory and cream colours most often) but that they've also done events in hot pink and chocolate brown (this season's hottest colours). Arcadian Court appeals to a wide variety of brides, grooms, and wedding styles.

"We listen to what our brides want and explain what we can provide and how we can accommodate their wedding," she says. But, it's likely the Arcadian Court photo album filled with images of gorgeous Arcadian weddings that makes the decision even easier to make for brides. "When they see just how beautiful Arcadian Court looks on a wedding day, it would be difficult to imagine going somewhere else."
