Lifestyle editorial and an artistic approach to weddings makes for great memories at Anna Lamond Photography
Reviewing Anna Lamond of Anna Lamond Photography

We liked Anna Lamond's style, experience, and energy the minute we met her. She is professional but with an easy-going personality that's easy to trust because you can tell right away she's listening to your ideas and taking note of your personalities.

From lifestyle editorial photography covering your family over decades of time to unique locations styled poses, Anna recognizes that different everyone has their own unique style. "I shoot casual, fun photos that are geared towards photojournalism and that play into what the bride and groom want. I am open to anything my bride and groom ask of me, whether it's traditionally posed, artistic or edgy." When you hire Anna Lamond, you will easily walk away with 350 to 500 photo proofs covering the moments, people, and mix of emotions that you'll remember forever because she was there for you, capturing what means most to you.

Mastering photography

Knowing she had a passion for photography, Anna Lamond attended the Photography Program in her London high school before moving on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Photography from Ryerson University in Toronto. After graduating, Anna photographed and worked at a wedding photography studio in Toronto. She is currently in the process of completing her Masters degree at Ryerson University in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management and has been shooting weddings for her own company for the past seven years. Anna also continues to look for inspiration and creative ideas to make your wedding images special and unique, subscribing to various trade periodicals and attending workshops to help her continually improve her craft.

Anna considers herself lucky to be able to work with her husband in her wedding photography business. Dennis, who also shoots weddings with Anna, often acts as an administrator for the business. "He adds a lot to the business end of things," says Anna, who notes that her own time is then free to get more creative. "It's great to be able to do what you love with the person you love most."

A focus on Toronto weddings

Anna Lamond does approximately fifteen to twenty weddings each summer. Whenever he can, Dennis will assist on weddings. Anna tells us that it often makes the work uniquely personal and artistic. They both understand the importance of your day, of family, and of the romance and fun that comes with it. After all, it was only six years ago that they had their own wedding day. When Dennis isn't assisting, Anna works with an additional photographer, Alanna, who she says loves shooting weddings as much as she does.

Anna Lamond Photography is focusing their time and talents on the Toronto area. "I love Toronto and the weddings that take place here. There are so many great locations in the Toronto area that can give your photos a funky, urban, or contemporary look. Toronto offers a backdrop for me to be as creative as I can with each shoot." Anna will also travel to her favourite spots in Southwestern Ontario, such as London and the Lake Huron area.

More candid than posed, plus all the shots you need

When you book Anna Lamond, you're getting your memories from all angles in Anna Lamond's own style and approach. "It's wedding photography that encompasses a wide variety of photographic approaches, including fashion, travel, still life, lifestyle and portraiture. The results are a stylish and natural look," she told us, "and the photos also create a pictorial story of your day."

"You're more likely to get more candid shots than posed," Anna said in our interview, but added that you'll always have the formals you want, on top of it all. "Weddings are fantastic to shoot. I love the details; the flowers, the table settings, the centrepieces, the décor at the reception... But then I also love capturing the smiles and tears no one noticed. I try to do both the ordinary and the out-of-the-ordinary shots. I want to capture your wedding from a variety of different angles."

Photo ops, locations

For Anna, shooting in unique locations is a natural part of wedding photography. She shoots a lot of weddings locally, but she's also just as excited about hopping in the car and taking a road trip for a good cause - your wedding.

Out of the extensive portfolio Anna had to show us, our favourite was a lakeside wedding in Bayfield, amidst the trees with an aisle that ended overlooking the bluff where the couple exchanged their vows. Family and friends were seated on either side of a wonderful aisle runner that was scattered with sea shells, and all the chairs faced the open sky and water. Green grass and trees, a pristine white gown, shafts of sunlight in all the right places, and personalities in each photo...

Another favourite wedding collection was of a wedding in the rain at a gorgeous Ontario winery. "It really doesn't matter where the photos are taken. It could be on the street, by a pond for formals, at the café where you met. It's the emotions, colour, contrast, lighting... That's what you remember, and I want to give you that in print."

We asked Anna what her most memorable wedding day was, and she said, "The most relaxed and casual wedding I did was another photographer's wedding. The entire day was fun and the bride and groom were a great, they were willing to do a lot of fun shots. Their only posed shots happened in their favourite old-style diner - the rest was all candid."

Lifestyle Editorial Photography

Anna's photography focus has always been predominantly on weddings, however, as a wife and mother herself, she  also finds it easy to be inspired by 'Lifestyle Editorial Photography' - coverage of couples and their families over decades of their lives. From engagement and wedding photos to maternity, baby and special family event photography, Anna uses a photojournalistic, editorial-style approach to documenting the evolution and sentimentality of your family as it grows older.

Walking you through your options

Anna Lamond can accommodate just about any couple and what's important to them, even staying for the entire reception (for additional cost) if requested. She says her most popular wedding package price is $3000, and includes ten hours of coverage summarizing your entire wedding day. Because Anna shoots in a mix of film and digital, she offers a proof album of 4x6 images, all of the film negatives and all of the digital files on a DVD to keep.

Anna offers custom designed albums in sizes that range from 5x5 to 11x14. This coffee table book is gorgeous, and designed to tell the story of your day. Anna's 'Brag Books' are one our all time favourite photography options. These adorable little books are only 2.5x3 in size, filled with your favourite shots, and are perfect for carrying with you in your purse. Anna also offers romantic Save the Date 'post cards' with your engagement and wedding details on them, to be sent to guests approximately eight to twelve months ahead of the wedding.

A $500 retainer books your wedding date on Anna Lamond's calendar. The balance is due before your wedding and payments can be arranged. Anna also offers sessions for engagement parties, anniversaries, family and baby photo portraits.

Because of your excellent preparation and ease of communication we were confident that we would get the style and quality of photographs we were looking for. And you delivered. Being an amateur photographer myself, I was impressed by your composition and quality of exposures... you are truly a gifted photographer and we consider ourselves lucky and privileged to have had you photograph our special day.
